To improve one’s posture is to improve one’s quality of life.

What seems to be a simple back pain at first can eventually lead to a severe posture problem, but even that is often overlooked.

Many of us don't realize the severity of a posture problem can bring. From our physical abilities to our overall health, a simple hunched back can be the leading cause of an unexpected illness. It can restrict a person’s movement, hindering you from doing the things you’re fond of- like sports or anything that has to do with actively moving.

Problems in posture can make daily life difficult. But what exactly causes these problems? You can barely realize that you're already slouching for desk jobs working 8 hours seated in front of a computer.

From working an entire shift up in your feet, the strain of standing up for long periods can also affect your posture. Even just simply the habit of lifting heavy objects without the proper stance— all of these can lead to bad posture.

But what can we do to fix this? Or better yet-avoid it altogether?

One way to do so is by engaging in a reformer Pilates class.

Keep on reading to learn more.

Reformer Pilates is performed on a Pilates reformer machine and is generally more intense and dynamic than mat-based Pilates.

Invented by Joseph Pilates, the reformer is one of the most well-known and widely utilized Pilates apparatus.

Still considered a low-impact form of exercise, reformer pilates are higher in intensity than mat-based pilates because the springs in the machine add resistance to the Pilates exercises.

A reformer is a platform bed on a frame consisting of risers with pulleys and ropes attached. The strings attached to it make it possible to induce light or heavy resistance onto the student.

It also has a foot bed, and a sliding carriage that connects to the springs. A headrest and shoulder blocks come with the carriage.

Because of the reformer's moving elements and variable spring tension, your muscles, particularly your core, work more than they would on any other type of workout.

Regularly attending reformer Pilates classes can introduce your body to a better, more enjoyable way of staying active.

Who needs reformer Pilates in West London?

There are many ways to stay fit and keep active.

You may be someone who likes starting your day with a jog around Richmond Park, or you may find that a walk session surrounded by nature courtesy of Isabela Plantation, admiring the enchanting flower beds-whatever your routine may be, staying fit is the goal in mind.

If you’re looking for a full-body workout and find that going to the gym isn’t for you, you should try reformer Pilates.

It offers a more holistic approach, even promoting mind and body balance.

Pilates reformer work helps back pain, injury rehabilitation, weight loss, and posture, to mention a few.

Sports enthusiasts are also welcome to try reformer Pilates, as its main goal is to focus on core strength and stability.

Those doing mat Pilates can also transition to reformer, as you may find that this switch will allow you a better workout routine.

Previous mat Pilates students benefit from adding a reformer, as controlling the carriage's movement provides an additional challenge the apparatus offers.

In addition to that, it confronts the body with resistance more significant than what other Pilates equipment can provide.

Later on, once the student fully gets used to working out on a reformer, lighter springs can be utilized to increase the difficulty of the exercises.

Those dealing with different kinds of back and torso pains engage in a reformer class, as the routines can help alleviate pains and discomforts.

But prevention is always better than cure, so if you want to maintain good postural alignment and proper muscle engagement, reformer Pilates is the best exercise for you.
